Helping you overcome incontinence and lead a more active life
The Active Life Program at Saint Anthony Medical Center helps those with incontinence - a loss of bladder or bowel control. This problem affects nearly 10 million Americans but is not a disease. Incontinence is a symptom of a medical condition that can always be eliminated, controlled or managed. Common causes of incontinence include sneezing, an overactive bladder, coughing, prostate surgery, laughing, impaired muscle or nerve functions, and rectal or pelvic floor surgeries.
Our professionally trained staff examines your special needs and an individualized treatment program is developed for you. Our process utilizes behavior modification to help bring the problem under control:
- Exercises that teach you to increase pelvic-muscle strength.
- Electrical stimulation to help identify and train supportive muscles.
The Center for Incontinence at Saint Anthony is located in the Saint Anthony Medical Center campus. For more information or an appointment call 219.757.6020. |
