The Breast Care Center at Saint Anthony offers a comprehensive group of services for women that emphasizes "women's wellness" through state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures, follow-up treatment options, education and support - all within a setting designed specifically for women and their needs.
Guided by a dedicated, well-trained clinical staff and expert radiologists, the Breast Care Center addresses women's healthcare issues through a multi-disciplinary approach that includes the input from medical oncologists, general and plastic surgeons, radiation oncologists, and pathologists. Our Center meets rigorous standards set by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Staff qualifications, equipment, dosage and overall quality control meet or exceed ACR requirements.
The Breast Care Center at Saint Anthony offers:
- Full-field Digital Mammography: Our staff includes highly professional radiologists and registered mammographers with a combined service of more than 56 years.
- Breast Ultrasound
- Lymphedema
- Stereotactic Biopsy: A non-surgical technique, the stereotactic biopsy procedure accurately locates a suspicious lesion or “microcalcifications" previously detected through mammography, then, through the use of a biopsy needle, takes tiny sections of tissue for examination and diagnosis.
- Mammotome Breast Biopsy through Ultrasound: A further diagnostic test that employs the use of ultrasound and removes a tissue sample to accurately sample lesions.
- Bone Mineral Density Testing: A screening bone densitometer measures changes in bone density and provides invaluable information in the assessment of osteoporosis. An extensive scan of the entire body is done in a few minutes with special emphasis on the hip and spine.
- R2 ImageChecker™: a revolutionary, computer-aided mammogram screening technology that uses specialized software to recheck the image and highlight specific characteristics that appear suspicious. The ImageChecker™ improves detection rates by as much as 15%. The Breast Care Center at Saint Anthony was the first in Northwest Indiana and fourth in the state to offer this new technology.
- Breast Cancer Support Group and Education Programs: Under the direction of a professional counselor, these programs are offered free of charge to women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
- Massage Therapy Services.
